Reflections between the Reggio Emilia Approach®️ and Te Ao Māori

Brenda Soutar and Leanne Clayton participated in the 2024 study group to Reggio Emilia. One of the first activities the Aotearoa New Zealand group carried out in Reggio Emilia was a word selection describing feelings. Brenda chose ‘tino rangatiratanga’. Leanne and Brenda will explain this choice, sharing reflections as it relates to early years in primary and early childhood settings. There will be authentic examples from their own teaching practice, that encompass Te Whāriki and Tiriti-based contexts.

REANZ online learning community in 2025...

The pandemic has required us to be creative and try new ways of professional learning. In recent years, we have developed an online learning community where we hold conversations reflecting on Reggio Emilia readings.

We hold these reflective conversations via zoom, 7:00-8:00pm.

We share a Reggio Emilia-focused reading or resource in advance for discussion.

Note that these events are FREE, and offer an exciting and accessible way to engage with Reggio pedagogy in the Aotearoa NZ context.

Please email reanztrust@gmail.com to register for the REANZ online learning community.
