FREE WEBINAR TO START OFF OUR DOCUMENTATION MONTH

But there’s more news!
As a Digital Community Member we’re inviting you to a free webinar, “Making learning visible”, live on Thursday 26 November at 4.30pm CET.If you can’t be there for the live event you will have access to the recording, which will be posted online a few days later. Documentation, in the educational experience of Reggio Emilia’s municipal infant-toddler centres and preschools is an integral, structuring part of educational theories and didactics; it gives value to, and makes explicit, visible, and evaluable, the nature of subjective (single) and group learning processes in children and adults identified through observation, and makes them into a common shared legacy.  It is, therefore, a fundamental strategy and working tool for all those working in educational contexts. Considered to be a “public place”, documentation gives substance to the idea of infant-toddler centres and preschools that elaborate a culture of childhood and of education, with a democratic process. InfoBefore the webinar starts, Digital Community members will receive an email with a link to enable them to participate.Numero massimo partecipanti al live: 500

“NOTHING WITHOUT JOY”

Reflections from the 2010 Melbourne Study Tour

When I stepped off the plane in an unfamiliar place, I thought I had no preconceived notions of what to expect. However over the coming week I realised just how much my personal cultural values affect my my image of children, and my image of myself a teacher. Therefore my reflections of the tour have been focused on ‘the big picture’ with regards to concepts of community and one’s sense of self within society rather than the specifics of individual early learning centres.

Encounters with Reggio Emilia

– thoughts and reflections from Dianne Akast

The Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education has intrigued, inspired and provoked my thinking for many years now but nothing can compare to the reality of participating with more than three hundred educators from around the world in a weeklong series of encounters with the city of Reggio Emilia, its citizens and educational approach.
